Pause & Rewind: Learning to waste a summer

I have no idea whether it is true, but I have built the memory that I used to spend all my summers as a child at my grandparent’s house in Spain. For the first time in years I went back during summer, and had all kinds of “William Brown's Schooldays” type reflections. For example, the terrace that I learnt to ride a bike on:

I don’t think it was the location that inspired me to learn such boyhood basics, as much as the boredom that we would otherwise face (Spanish TV is shit, and sharing a Gameboy between 4 brothers and sisters meant you had to make your own fun).
